Teacher charged in incident involving students

A teacher at Bob Edwards School has been charged following an incident involving students that occurred in October.

At approximately 11:10 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, police were called to the Bob Edwards School, located at 4424 Marlborough Drive N.E., for reports that a teacher had inappropriately touched several students. The teacher left the school prior to police arrival.

After speaking with several witnesses at the time of the incident, the investigation was turned over to the Calgary Police Service Child Abuse Unit.

Witnesses report that a teacher arrived at school in the morning and appeared to be impaired. They report the teacher attempted to speak to several students, making inappropriate comments and physical contact. It is also alleged one student ended up alone in a classroom with him and was prevented from leaving, while he made unwanted physical advances and inappropriate comments.

The student immediately reported to a teacher, police were called and the suspect left the school.

Mikhail KOLESNIKOV, 35, has been charged with sexual interference with a child under 16, and unlawful confinement.
