Targeted shooting - District 4

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating a targeted shooting that took place yesterday, Saturday, June 3, 2017.

At approximately 9 p.m., two masked men approached an outdoor basketball court located in the 4800 block of 14 Avenue S.E. and fired shots before running away from the scene.

Three victims were driven to hospital where one later succumbed to their injuries. The name of the victim will be released pending autopsy. The other two received injuries that were not life threatening.

Approximately 20 other people were at the scene however they were not injured.

This incident is not considered to be random in nature.

Investigators have spoken to witnesses and CCTV footage from the area is being collected.
