Swatting event involving U.S. high school

We are investigating what appears to be a swatting event involving a high school in the United States.

At approximately 7 p.m. this evening, Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, we began receiving multiple calls of concern regarding a Snapchat message indicating a threat towards a high school. After thorough investigation, we believe this to be in relation to a swatting event circulating on Snapchat in the U.S. which makes threats towards Central High School, located in the U.S., not to be confused with a Calgary high school.

Our investigative resources continue to work with law enforcement counterparts in the U.S and we have no reason to believe at this time that the threats being shared on social media are towards any school in Calgary.
