Suspicious death ruled homicide

The suspicious death of a man in downtown Calgary on the weekend has been ruled a homicide.

Shortly after 2 a.m., Sunday, May 27, 2018, a man in his 20s was found in medical distress in the 200 block of 15 Avenue S.E. The man was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit was called out to investigate. It is believed that approximately 10 people were involved in an altercation in the area, shortly prior to the man being found. It is not yet known if the victim was involved in the initial altercation. Police continue to review CCTV and speak with witnesses. The motive for the disturbance, or the assault on the victim, is not yet known.

Following an autopsy on Monday, May 28, 2018, the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Craig CUTTER. He died as a result of a stabbing.
