Suspicious death in Lower Mount Royal

Our Homicide Unit is currently on scene investigating a suspicious death in the community of Lower Mount Royal.

At approx. 7:15 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, we were called to the 1700 block of 9A Street S.W., for reports of a woman believed to be deceased in a residence.

Upon arrival, officers located a woman deceased within the home. The circumstances surrounding her death are now under investigation.

One person was taken into custody at the scene for questioning.

The investigation is ongoing, and there is no risk to the public. Further information will be shared upon completion of the autopsy, which is scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025.
