Suspicious death in Douglasdale

Major Crimes and Arson are currently investigating a suspicious fire in the southeast community of Douglasdale, after a body was found in a burned-out residence.

On Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at approximately 5 a.m., emergency responders were called for reports of a house fire in the 100 block of Douglas Ridge Green S.E. After the fire was extinguished, an individual was found deceased inside the home.

At this time, given the circumstances surrounding the nature of this event, the death is considered suspicious. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022.

Due to structural concerns caused by the fire, it may take some time to ensure the scene is safe before additional inspection can take place. As a result, no further information is available.
