Suspicious death downtown

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating the suspicious death of a man found in downtown early this morning.

At approximately 4:50 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, police were called to the area of 11 Ave and 1 Street S.E., for reports of a man in medical distress. The man was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

There is no indication at this time that this suspicious death is linked to the shooting of two men last night.

An autopsy is expected to be scheduled for early in the week to identify the victim. No further information is available at this time.
