Suspicious death downtown

We are currently investigating a suspicious death after a woman was assaulted and later died.

At approximately 6:40 a.m., on Friday, March 18, 2022, we were called to the 100 block of 10 Avenue S.E., for reports of an assault. Upon arrival, officers found an injured woman in her 20s unconscious and she died shortly afterward despite the best efforts of first responders.

Police currently have 10 Avenue closed between 1 Street to 2 Street S.E. The closure is anticipated to remain in place for some time.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
