We are seeking public assistance to identify a man suspected of theft from a downtown Calgary business which has been targeted multiple times.

On Friday, August 6, 2021, at approximately 2 a.m., an unknown male broke the glass of the main door of Simply Irie restaurant located at 1510 6 Street S.W. Once inside, the suspect located and removed the point of sale cash register before exiting the restaurant and fleeing on a bicycle.

A photo of the unknown male can be found on The City of Calgary Newsroom and we are asking for the public’s help to identify this individual.

Previously, on Friday, July 9, 2021, at approximately 5:30 a.m., 10 patio chairs were stolen from the Simply Irie restaurant by another unknown male, seperate from the suspsct in the Aug. 6 theft. The July 9 theft suspect cut a chain that was securing the patio, removed the chairs and left in an unknown direction.

The individual suspected of the July 9 theft is the same suspect believed to be connected to several other similar offences previously committed against the restaurant. Images of this suspect can be found on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

We have received multiple tips from the public regarding the July 9 theft suspect and we thank the public and media for their continued support in this ongoing investigation.
