Suspect identified and charged in connection to two sexual assault cases

Police have arrested and charged a man in connection to a sexual assault in Varsity and have laid additional charges in relation to another case.

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, we asked the public for help in identifying a man believed to be responsible for sexually assaulting an individual at a dog park in the northwest community of Varsity.

The man has been identified as Jordi DIATEZIJA, 24, of Calgary. Police arrested DIATEZIJA on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, and laid the following charges in connection to the incident in Varsity:

One count of overcome resistance by choking
One count of sexual assault while choking
One count of sexual assault
One count of uttering threats

DIATEZIJA also faces additional charges in connection to a separate incident, where he is accused of groping a teen at a transit bus stop in the southeast community of Forest Lawn at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022. In this case, DIATEZIJA has been charged with the following:

One count of criminal harassment
One count of sexual assault

He will next appear in court on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023.
