Suspect charged in series of locker room thefts
One woman has been arrested in relation to a string of thefts in fitness, aquatic and recreation centres in communities across Calgary.
In early June, we received multiple reports stating wallets, identification, cell phones, keys or other personal property had been taken from lockers in change rooms while people were using the sports facilities. In some cases, the victims left the facilities to find their vehicle stolen, or fraudulent transactions on their bank cards.
After reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with victims and facility staff, investigators were able to identify a potential suspect.
On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, Julia FRASER, 30, of Calgary, was arrested and charged with:
· Five counts of failure to comply with a release order
· Three counts of theft over $5,000
· Three counts of possession of an identity document
· One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000
· One count of possession of a controlled substance
· One count of identity fraud
· One count of mischief
FRASER’s next court date is on Monday, July 10, 2023.
Investigation into this series of thefts is still ongoing and investigators believe additional suspects may be involved.
