Speed believed to be a factor in fatal motorcycle collision
Our Traffic Unit is investigating after a motorcycle collision left one man deceased on the weekend.
On Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at approximately 9:10 p.m., a single motorcycle collision occurred along eastbound194 Avenue S.W., approaching the intersection at Macleod Trail S.W.
At that time, it is believed a black 2000 Harley Davidson FXDX motorcycle, driven by a man in his 30s, was travelling east on194 Avenue S.W. As the roadway curved to the left, the rider veered off the roadway to the right, striking a cable barrier system located on the south side of the roadway.
The rider was dislodged from the motorcycle, ultimately coming to a rest in the far left lane, with the motorcycle coming to a rest a short distance away.
The rider suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Speed is considered to be a factor in this collision. Drugs or alcohol are not considered to be factors in this collision.
