Speed believed to be a factor in fatal motorcycle collision

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a motorcycle collision that occurred on the weekend that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man.

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, at approximately 2:50 p.m., a single-vehicle collision occurred on Crowchild Trail N.W., at the Sarcee Trail overpass. 

At that time, it is believed a Suzuki motorcycle, operated by 20-year-old man, was travelling eastbound on Crowchild Trail N.W., in the left lane when the rider lost control and crossed the two right lanes before exiting the roadway.

The motorcycle continued in an eastbound direction off of the road toward the base of the embankment at the Sarcee Trail overpass, where the rider was dismounted from the motorcycle. The rider struck the overpass, ultimately suffering fatal injuries. The rider was declared deceased on scene. The motorcycle came to a rest on the east edge of Sarcee Trail N.W.

Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the collision. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors in this collision.
