Speed being investigated in two motorcycle collisions
Update: A 24‑year‑old man who was one of the motorcyclists involved in the Barlow Trail collision has passed away. The investigation remains ongoing.
Our Traffic Section is investigating two serious injury motorcycle collisions that occurred in Calgary yesterday. In both collisions, speed is being investigated as factors.
Two people injured in Skyview Ranch collision
On Saturday, June 27, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a motorcyclist was travelling west on Skyview Shores Manor N.E., approaching the intersection with Skyview Shores Road N.E. At the same time, a driver operating a black Honda Pilot was travelling on Skyview Shores Road N.E., approaching the intersection.
The driver of the Honda Pilot turned left at the intersection and entered the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the Honda Pilot, causing the motorcyclist to be thrown from the bike. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet or any protective equipment.
The motorcyclist was transported to hospital in serious, life-threatening condition. A rear passenger in the Honda Pilot was also transported to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle and a second passenger were uninjured.
Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision.

Four people injured in Barlow Trail collision
Several hours later, at approximately 9 p.m., two motorcyclists were travelling south, side-by-side, on Barlow Trail approaching the intersection with 37 Avenue N.E. At the same time, a driver operating a white Kia Setos was travelling north on Barlow Trail in the left turn lane.
The driver of the Kia turned left and was struck by both motorcycles, causing both motorcyclists to be thrown from their bikes.
Both motorcyclists suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospital. Two passengers of the Kia were also transported to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Kia was uninjured.
Speed is being investigated as a factor in this collision.
