Six teens charged in Auburn Bay stabbing
We have charged six teens in relation to a stabbing that occurred in the southeast community of Auburn Bay in May.
At approximately 5:40 p.m., on Thursday, May 7, 2026, we were called to a residence in the 100 block of Auburn Meadows Way S.E. for reports of a teen in medical distress. Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old boy suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition and has since been released.
Investigators believe that at about 5:30 p.m. the victim was confronted by a group of seven teens in an alley behind the residence. A physical altercation ensued involving six of the teens and the victim, during which the victim was bear sprayed and stabbed.
Two suspects were taken into custody less than an hour after the incident. Through witness statements and CCTV footage obtained during the investigation, officers were able to identify the four additional suspects involved in the assault, who were taken into custody in the weeks that followed.
As a result of the investigation, four 14-year-old boys and two 15-year-old boys have each been charged with:
- One count of aggravated assault
- One count of assault with a weapon
- One count of disguise with intent
The accused are next scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
The teens cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
"Violence of this nature involving youth is deeply concerning," said District 8 Insp. Darry Midtdal. "We are grateful to the witnesses and community members who came forward with information. Their assistance was instrumental in helping us identify and charge the teens involved in this senseless attack."
