Single-vehicle collision leaves one pedestrian in serious condition

Police are investigating a serious-injury collision that occurred early this morning as a vehicle was exiting a parkade.

At approximately 1:35 a.m., this morning, Wednesday, April 5, 2023, it is believed a vehicle struck a pedestrian in the 8800 block of Macleod Trail S.W.

At the time, a vehicle being driven by a man in his 60s, began to exit an underground parkade. At the same time, a man in his 40s, was believed to have been lying on the ground near the threshold of the overhead door. 

As the vehicle continued to exit, the pedestrian was struck and dragged for a short distance before the vehicle stopped and reversed away from the man.  

As a result, the man sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.

The two occupants of the vehicle were uninjured and remained on scene.

Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in this collision.
