Shots fired in Sunalta

We are currently on scene and investigating a shooting that occurred this afternoon in the city’s southwest.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., today, Jan. 6, 2022, we were called to the 1200 block of 17 Street S.W., for reports that a man had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound in a back alley. Despite officers and paramedics performing lifesaving efforts on the victim, he was pronounced dead on scene.

While the investigation continues, 12 Avenue S.W., between 17 Street S.W. and 18 Street S.W., is shut down. An alley parallel to 12 Avenue S.W., is also shut down.
