Serious-injury motorcycle collision under investigation
We are investigating a motorcycle collision that occurred yesterday in northwest Calgary.
At about 8:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, a man in his 20s, operating a Yamaha motorcycle, was travelling east in the 9600 block of Shriners Road N.W., when the motorcycle exited the roadway, causing the motorcyclist to be dismounted.
The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor. Speed is being investigated as a possible factor.

- Tune and check bikes before heading out for a ride
- Ride in less busy areas when possible
- Be mindful of road conditions
- Follow the rules of the road, especially speed limits, which are designed for ideal road conditions
- Helmets are mandatory for motorcyclists
- Stay out of blind spots and ensure other drivers can see you
