Serious-injury collision in northeast under investigation

We are investigating a serious-injury collision that occurred last night in northeast Calgary.

At about 7:20 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, a GMC Sierra, driven by a woman in her 30s, was travelling northbound on Metis Trail through the intersection at 104 Avenue N.E.

At the same time, a man in his 50s was crossing from west to east in the north crosswalk, when he was struck.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver was not injured.

Speed and impairment on the part of the driver are not believed to be factors.

The right-of-way at the time of the collision remains under investigation.
