Seeking public assistance to identify truck involved in pedestrian hit and run

We are seeking public assistance in relation to a serious injury collision that occurred early this morning.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, a pedestrian was in the westbound lanes of 50 Avenue S.W., between 1 Street S.W. and Macleod Trail, when a light-colored pick-up truck travelling westbound along 50 Avenue struck him.

The truck then continued to the intersection of Macleod Trail, turned right and fled the area. The driver of the truck failed to return to the scene.

The pedestrian, a 35-year-old man, was discovered by a passing rideshare driver at around 2:35 a.m. He was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

We are investigating and are currently attempting to locate an early 2000s, white or light-colored half ton pick-up truck, with possible front-end damage.

A photo of the truck obtained from CCTV nearby is available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact police by calling the non-emergency number at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
