Seeking public assistance to identify suspects in pharmacy robberies

We have charged one man and are seeking public assistance to identify two additional suspects in relation to two pharmacy robberies that occurred earlier this week.

On Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, just before noon, three suspects entered the Cornerstone Pharmacy, located in the 5100 block of Rundlehorn Drive N.E., and demanded pharmaceutical drugs and cash. During the robbery, offenders assaulted the pharmacist before fleeing the scene. The victims notified police who began circulating the area searching for the suspects.

Approximately 10 minutes later, we were called for another robbery that occurred at Healing Home Medical Clinic, located in the 500 block of 28 Avenue N.E. During this robbery, suspects threatened one victim and locked her in a back room. Officers responded to the scene and observed a vehicle fleeing the area that was occupied by individuals matching the suspect descriptions in both robberies, however lost sight of the vehicle, a white Nissan Armada, a short time later.

Later that afternoon, after identifying the registered owner of the Armada, investigators took one suspect into custody from the community of Chaparral.

Man Awok SHOT, 19, of Calgary, has now been charged with four counts of robbery, two counts of wearing a disguise to commit an indictable offence and one count of forcible confinement. He will next appear in court on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022.

Investigators are also looking for the public’s help to identify two additional suspects who were believed to be involved in the robberies.

The first suspect is described as wearing a hoodie with “Gucci” printed on the front, Calvin Klein pants, and may have facial hair.

The second suspect is described as wearing a black puffy Columbia jacket with the hood up, grey sweatpants and black shoes.

Photos of the suspects are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.
