Seeking public assistance to identify suspects in a transit assault

We are looking for the public’s help to identify a man and woman believed to be responsible for an unprovoked attack that left a victim with serious medical complications.

On Thursday, March 30, 2023, at approximately 9:45 a.m., a 73-year-old man was sitting inside the Marlborough CTrain Station, located at 889 36 St. N.E., when he was approached by a man and a woman. In an unprovoked attack, the woman then hit the victim in the head with a glass bottle and the man struck the victim with an unknown object. The victim fell to the ground, where he was knocked unconscious, and the offenders fled the area.

The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition, where he remains. As a result of the attack, the victim has undergone multiple surgeries and has experienced significant medical complications. This assault is believed to have been random.

Investigators have reviewed CCTV from the station, however they have been unable to identify the suspects. We are now asking for the public’s help to identify these individuals:

The female suspect is described as 30 years old, approximately 5’6” tall, 130 pounds, with long black hair that was in a bun.

The male suspect is described as 35 years old and approximately 5’8” tall.

We are also looking to identify a second woman, who was uninvolved in the assault, but may be connected to the suspects. She is described as 30 years old, approximately 5’6” tall and 120 pounds.

We are committed to creating safe public spaces, including on transit, by taking action to reduce crime and social disorder through focused collaborative enforcement and compassionate supports.
