Seeking public assistance in October arson incidents

We are seeking public assistance for information related to two arson incidents that took place last month.

The first incident took place on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, shortly after 6 p.m. A burnt green 1999 Ford Windstar was found abandoned under the Bonnybrook Bridge near the 4300 block of Ogden Road S.E.

Photos of an individual who is believed to be involved in this arson are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

The second incident took place on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, shortly before 3 a.m., in the 800 block of 1 Avenue N.W., where a fire broke out in the exterior parking lot of an apartment complex. The fire destroyed three vehicles and caused severe damage to the interior and exterior of the apartment complex. Preliminary estimates of the damage is valued at close to $1 Million.

CCTV footage from the area showed an unknown person entering the parking lot about a half hour before the fire was evident. The person traveled to and from the area on a Reebok brand purple bike and is described as having a thin frame, closely cropped brown hair, and was wearing a tan jacket and white hooded sweater. Photos of the individual and the bicycle are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.
