Seeking public assistance - northeast groping incident

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance to identify a man who allegedly groped a woman several times in a northeast store.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, the victim walked into the Real Canadian Superstore at 3575 20 Ave. N.E., and as she grabbed a shopping basket, a man walked by and touched her buttocks. The victim did not challenge the suspect as she thought it may have been accidental.

Several minutes later, the suspect walked by the victim who was in another part of the store. He again allegedly touched her buttocks then quickly walked away and joined up with a woman and child further down the aisle.

As the victim waited at the checkout, she noticed the suspect, who was accompanied by the woman and child, in an adjacent line. The victim disclosed what happed to the cashier and asked for a store employee to accompany her to the parking lot as she felt uncomfortable.

As she waited for the employee, the suspect walked by her several times, the final time reaching out and again grabbing her. The victim reacted and slapped the suspect in the head, at which time he ran out of the store.

Investigators have been able to retrieve CCTV from the store and are asking the public for assistance in identifying the man. Several photos of the suspect are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom. It is believed he left the store driving a tan-coloured minivan, possibly a Honda.

The suspect is described of being of Middle-Eastern descent, and was wearing a white T-shirt and grey pants.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using either of the following methods:
