Seeking public assistance - Fatal pedestrian collision Deerfoot Trail

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision.

At approximately 3 a.m., today, Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, police were called to southbound Deerfoot Trail and 130 Avenue S.E.

Upon arrival it appeared that a 21-year-old male pedestrian had been struck in the southbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail. He sustained fatal head injuries and died at the scene.

Evidence at the scene indicates that the vehicle that struck the man was an SUV which continued south on Deerfoot Trail. Investigators are still trying to determine the exact circumstances that may have led to this incident.
