Rural operation nets drugs, guns and stolen vehicles

Guns, drugs and stolen vehicles were seized from an acreage northeast of Calgary yesterday following an early morning operation.

Around 5 a.m., on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, District 5 Operations Team members, along with the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and RCMP dog teams, executed a search warrant on a 12-acre property just east of Airdrie off Range Road 291. Due to the expanse of the property and the number of outbuildings and vehicles on site, Calgary Search and Rescue Association (CALSARA) members were called in to assist with the sweep.

Three people who were on the property were arrested without incident.

Following a more than 12-hour search of the acreage, the following stolen property was recovered:

  • 2001 VW Jetta
  • 2006 Honda TRX350 quad
  • 2004 Honda CRF50 dirt bike
  • 1999 Pace American cargo trailer
  • Chevy Silverado
  • Suzuki GSX FSA13 motorcycle
  • Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle
  • Honda CRF 250 dirt bike
  • stolen licence plates

The following drugs and weapons were also seized:

  • .22-calibre rifle with homemade suppressor
  • more than 100 rounds of various ammunition
  • marijuana worth $2,680
  • heroin worth $575
  • crystal meth worth $240
  • two pellet guns
  • collapsible baton
  • bear spray

It’s believed the property was used to store stolen property from Calgary and surrounding areas prior to being resold. The CPS will return the stolen property to the rightful owners if possible.

An inspection by City of Airdrie officials deemed the residence on the property as uninhabitable.

David Jonathan BRAZEAU, 26, of Airdrie, is charged with numerous weapons, drugs and stolen property offences.

Justin Christopher PAQUETTE, 25, of no fixed address in Calgary, is charged with numerous drug and stolen property offences, as well as being unlawfully at large.

Matthew Brandon COOKE, 26, of Calgary, is charged with outstanding warrants.
