Resilient by Design: Creating a Future-Ready Calgary — Join us at the seventh annual Calgary Climate Symposium

The seventh annual Calgary Climate Symposium is now underway and runs until Nov. 21, 2025. The symposium is fully online and free to attend, so you can join from home or the office for a week of virtual learning.

Connect with community leaders, entrepreneurs, prominent climate experts and City staff for a series of unique sessions showcasing how proactive planning and intentional design can drive innovation and economic opportunity while making Calgary more resilient to climate risks.

“The Symposium brings together people who are testing solutions in our city — from climate-ready homes to resilient infrastructure — so attendees can leave with immediate actions they can take at work and at home.” says Cody Field, Public Program Coordinator.

This year’s theme, Resilient by Design: Creating a Future-Ready Calgary, highlights how intentional design — in homes and buildings, infrastructure, natural systems and community development — helps Calgary adapt to hazards while reducing emissions. Being “future-ready” means planning and building to handle heat, smoke, hail and floods while keeping services reliable, costs down and people safe.

Attendees can choose from more than 10 free virtual sessions on topics such as climate-ready homes; resilient infrastructure and utilities; recovery from extreme weather; heat and health impacts; climate equity and Indigenous knowledge and perspectives; net-zero buildings; food resilience; and electric mobility. If participants can’t attend the live sessions, recordings will be posted online shortly after each session.
