Recruitment for Vote Workers for the 2018 Vote

The Elections and Census Office will be hiring approximately 3,000 vote workers to facilitate voting in Vote 2018. Applications are now open for anyone interested in working the Vote.

“We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the community and interested in democracy,” said Laura Kennedy, Returning Officer for the City of Calgary. “Vote 2018 is an opportunity for Calgarians to respond to the question asked by Council. We need a lot of people to help ensure the voting process runs smoothly and efficiently.”

All positions in the Vote are paid positions. Most workers will be assigned to voting stations and special voting stations located in communities in and around Calgary. A number of stand-by workers are also hired to ensure all positions are filled should a cancellation occur.

Individuals do not have to be Canadian citizens to work the Vote, but they must be:

  • Eligible to work in Canada;
  • Available to attend a daytime training session in November; and
  • Available to work extended hours on:
    • Advance Vote Days (November 6-7)
    • Vote Day (November 13)

Anyone who meets these qualifications and would like to be a part of the Elections Calgary team can apply online at Calgary.ca/vote2018. Due to the expected volume of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.

Vote 2018 will take place on November 13, 2018. For information on the vote visit Calgary.ca/vote2018.
