Public assistance sought in northeast shooting investigation
We are asking for the public’s help to advance an investigation into a shooting and collision that occurred in the city’s northeast yesterday.
At approximately 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, we responded to a single vehicle collision on the off-ramp for 36th Street at 16th Avenue N.E., near the community of Rundle, where a black SUV had struck a concrete wall.
When officers arrived at the vehicle, they located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. He was later upgraded to stable condition.
It is believed that the victim had been driving westbound on 16th Avenue N.E., towards 36th Street N.E., when another vehicle pulled up beside his and a person in the neighbouring vehicle fired gunshots. When he was struck with bullets, the victim lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a concrete wall.
The investigation into the shooting and collision is ongoing.
