PSA: 8 Street S.E. crossing at Canadian Pacific Railway Tracks closing Jan. 15

Starting Wednesday, January 15, 8 Street S.E. at the crossing with Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) tracks south of 9 Avenue S.E. will be closed to all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. This closure is being implemented to accommodate CP reconfiguration and operations and as part of land negotiations for the Green Line LRT project.

People travelling through Ramsay on 8 Street S.E. are encouraged to use the following alternative routes:

  • Pedestrians/cyclists: use the Elbow River Pathway on the east side of the Elbow River under the CP Rail bridge to connect to north and southbound 8 Street S.E. and 9 Avenue S.E.
  • Motorists: Use Olympic Way/4 Street S.E. or 11/12 Street S.E. to move north or southbound.

The City will be implementing a variety of short-term solutions to help improve the experience of moving through Ramsay and Inglewood, particularly on the Elbow River Pathway.

The City is investing in one of Calgary's oldest neighbourhoods to keep it safe, beautiful and vibrant. The Green Line is a vital project to Calgary’s future and will connect communities in north and southeast Calgary, including a station in Ramsay/Inglewood.
