Probation officer charged in breach of trust investigation

Following an investigation by the Calgary Police Service Sensitive Investigations Unit, a probation officer has been charged for accessing confidential information.

On Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, police were notified of allegations that protected information had been wrongfully accessed. It is believed that an Alberta Correctional Services probation officer improperly accessed protected databases outside of her scope of work to obtain confidential information. An investigation began and investigators identified a woman who was believed to have leveraged her access to secure databases to access protected information.

On Thursday, April 30, 2026, a search warrant was executed and electronic devices were seized. Evidence found through examination determined unauthorized information had been accessed.

As a result, Navjot DHILLON, 25, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of breach of trust and one count of unauthorized use of a computer. She will next appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026.

“Maintaining public trust requires that allegations of misconduct are thoroughly investigated,” says Insp. Nicole Barrett of the Calgary Police Service Professional Standards Section. “We are committed to protecting sensitive information and ensuring individuals who abuse positions of trust are held accountable.”
