Political participant disclosures for 2025

The deadline to file political participant (i.e., candidate, local political party and third party advertiser) disclosures to Elections Calgary for 2025 has passed.

At the March 2, 2026 (4:30 p.m.) deadline:

·       132 of 154 candidates for mayor, councillor and school board trustee (including withdrawn candidates) filed disclosure statements.

·       3 of 3 registered local political parties filed disclosure statements.

·       2 of 5 registered third party advertisers filed advertising contribution statements and advertising returns.

Public access to disclosures

Disclosures submitted by the March 2, 2026 deadline will be made available on the following webpages on ElectionsCalgary.ca by end of day on Friday, March 6, 2026:

·       Candidate disclosure statements: 2025 General Election campaign disclosure statements.

·       Registered local political party disclosure statements: Registry and disclosures for local political parties and slates.

·       Registered third party advertiser campaign advertising contribution statements and advertising returns: Registry and disclosures for third party advertisers.

Disclosures are also available for the public to view in-person during regular business hours at the Elections Calgary office by appointment. Contact Elections Calgary by emailing candidates@calgary.ca or by calling 403-476-4110.

The Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) and the Local Political Parties and Slates Regulation (LPPSR) requires certain information contained on political participants’ disclosures to be redacted prior to public access.

Late filing fee

As set out in the LAEA, if a candidate or third party advertiser submits their disclosures to Elections Calgary after 4:30 p.m. on March 2, 2026, they will be issued a late filing fee of $500.

Ineligibility for future nominations
A report to council or the applicable school board is required by the LAEA setting out candidates who did not file their disclosure statement by 4:30 p.m. on March 12, 2026 (i.e., 10 days following the March 2, 2026 4:30 p.m. deadline).

Individuals listed in the reports are ineligible to be nominated for council or school board for a period of (whichever expires first):

·       8 years following the day on which the report was presented to council or transmitted to the applicable school board, or

·       3 years following the day the individual’s disclosure statement is filed.

Individuals listed in the reports may apply to the court for relief within 60 days of the day the report is published on The City’s website, or the school board makes the report public. Provisions for applying to the court are listed in the LAEA in section 147.8.

Elections Calgary

Elections Calgary is a division of the City Clerk’s Office responsible for independently and impartially administering general elections and by-elections for The City of Calgary offices of mayor and councillors and the trustees of the Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School District.
