Police seek to identify victim of sexual assault

We are asking the victim of a random sexual assault that occurred in downtown Calgary over the summer to come forward to police.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., it is believed the victim was walking in the area of 17 Avenue and Fifth Street S.W., when she was approached from behind by a naked man who touched her inappropriately. The victim screamed, and the man fled the scene.

Bystanders witnessed and reported the incident to police, but the victim left the area prior to investigators identifying her. Police searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate the man.

We are now looking to speak with the victim in relation to this incident, as we believe she may have important information that could further an ongoing investigation.
