Police seek to identify suspect in northeast hospital thefts

We are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who is believed to be responsible for multiple purse thefts at the Peter Lougheed Centre.

On Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, it is believed a man entered an office in the Peter Lougheed Centre, located at 3500 26 Avenue N.E., stole a purse belonging to an employee and fled. A short time later, the suspect made multiple fraudulent transactions using the victim’s debit card and credit cards.

A second incident involving the same suspect occurred on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024. It is believed the man returned to the Peter Lougheed Centre and stole a purse from a nursing station. This victim witnessed the theft and confronted the suspect as he attempted to flee. He dropped the purse and fled from the area.

The suspect is described as being in his 40s, approximately 5’8” tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds, balding with short hair and a goatee.
