Original release:

We are seeking the public’s help to identify a man believed to be responsible for a violent assault in downtown Calgary.

At approximately 1:46 a.m., on Sunday, June 14, 2026, we were called to reports of an assault near the intersection of Stephen Avenue and 2 Street S.W.

Investigators believe three men were waiting for transportation when they observed a man and woman engaged in what appeared to be a verbal argument. One of the men then approached the woman to check on her well-being. Investigators believe the male suspect then assaulted all three victims without warning.

Two of the victims suffered serious injuries requiring medical treatment. The third victim sustained minor injuries.

After the incident, the suspect fled northbound on 2 Street S.W. The woman left the area separately with a group of other women.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, recognizes the suspect, was with the pair earlier in the evening, or works at a nearby restaurant, bar or business and may know their identities, is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
