Update: Police seek to identify suspect after inappropriate interaction with teen

Thanks to tips from the public, the man police were looking to identify in relation to an incident involving a teen that occurred at the Thornhill Aquatic & Recreation Centre has now been identified.

We are asking for the public’s help to identify a man believed to have propositioned a teenager for sexual services at a local recreation centre earlier this month.

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, the victim was at the Thornhill Aquatic & Recreation Centre, located at 6715 Centre Street N.W., using the washroom in the men’s changeroom, when an unknown man approached the victim.

The man made several unwanted comments that were sexual in nature while exposing himself to the victim.  

The victim did not engage with the man and shortly after the interaction, exited the changeroom.

The suspect also exited the changeroom, and while sitting in a common area of the recreation centre, once again made unwanted sexual comments to the victim as he walked by.

The victim informed his mother about the interactions with the man and the incident was subsequently reported to police.

After exhausting all investigative avenues, we are now asking for the public’s help to identify the man.

The suspect is described as being between 50 and 65 years old, with a heavy build and grey or light-coloured short hair. He was last seen wearing an Edmonton Oilers denim jacket, a dark-blue polo shirt, dark jeans and glasses.

The suspect is also believed to be driving a 2007 to 2013 brown or grey Toyota Tundra, with a rear topper and an Edmonton Oilers licence plate.
