Police seek shooting suspect and identity of individual(s)

We are asking for the public’s help to locate a suspect wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in relation to a shooting and identify individual(s) who were in a vehicle during the time of the shooting in July.

On Wednesday, July 12, 2022, at approximately 2 a.m., police were called to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Macleod Trail S.E. and 10 Avenue S.E., where witnesses observed someone fire a handgun at a blue car travelling north on Macleod Trail S.E. Investigators are seeking to speak with the occupant(s) of the blue car. At this point in the investigation, it is unknown if this was a targeted shooting.

We are asking for the public’s support to locate Abdullah AMER, 28, in relation to the shooting. He is wanted Canada-wide for:

·         One count of discharge firearm with intent
·         One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm
·         One count of point firearm
·         One count of careless use of a firearm
·         One count of breach of firearm prohibition order
·         One count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public

AMER is described as approximately 5’9” tall, 194 pounds, short black hair and a black beard.

The suspect is considered dangerous and should not be approached. We ask that the public use caution and report all sightings to police or Crime Stoppers.

“When we’re dealing with gun violence, we ask the community to provide as much information as they can. In general, these types of perpetrators are dangerous people that don’t respect the welfare of the community, and we’re working hard to reduce the violence that they bring to the streets of Calgary,” says Acting Staff Sergeant Roland Stewart of the Calgary Police Service.

Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through either of the following methods:
