Police seek public’s help identifying suspect in $35,000 handbike theft

We are asking for the public’s help to identify two individuals believed to be responsible for the theft of a custom carbon fibre handbike valued at $35,000.

On Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., two male suspects broke into an underground parking garage in the 1300 block of 16 Avenue S.W. Once inside, it’s believed the suspects entered a parked vehicle and stole the high-value handbike.

Later that morning, around 11:30 a.m., a witness reported seeing the suspects pushing the bike. CCTV footage shows one suspect travelling with it through the 500 block of 7 Avenue S.W.

The first suspect is described as approximately 30 years old, between 5’8” to 6’ tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a light-coloured hooded jacket, blue jeans, a baseball cap, white Adidas-style shoes and carrying a light-coloured backpack.

The second suspect is also described as approximately 30 years old, between 5’8” to 6’ tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with grey sleeves, black pants, black and white runners and a black hat.

The stolen bike, used by the victim for para-cycling, is a Model R2020 black carbon bike with Canadian national team para-athlete components attached to it.
