Police seek public assistance to identify assault suspect

We are asking for the public’s help to identify a man believed to be responsible for an assault that occurred downtown in October.

On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at about 3:10 p.m., a man was walking with his family northbound on Seventh Street S.W., between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue, when he was knocked to the ground by an unknown man. The suspect produced a weapon and gestured at the victim’s family member before leaving the scene.

After exhausting all investigative avenues to identify the suspect, we are turning to the public for information.

The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, with a slim build and dark hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue dress shirt, blue jeans and sunglasses.
