Police seek public assistance to identify arson suspects

Police are looking for individuals believed to be involved in the arson of a stolen vehicle near the airport.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, a fire broke out in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Courtyard Marriot hotel located at 2500 48 Avenue N.E. Police and the Calgary Fire Department attended the scene, and prior to their arrival, two individuals fled the area.

The resulting damage is estimated to be $15,000 as several nearby vehicles were also burned.

After investigating, it has been determined that the fire originated from a stolen 2002 Chevrolet Astro van that suspects were in possession of. As the fire broke out, a male and female entered the hotel before leaving the scene.

Exhausting all investigative leads, police are now releasing an image captured in the hotel lobby in hopes the public can identify one of the suspects.

The woman is described as having straight dark brown or black hair, a pronounced jaw and being 20 to 40 years old.

Anyone with information about this incident or the identity of the woman is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
