Police seek public assistance in stabbing incident

We continue to investigate a stabbing that took place last week.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, police were called to the area of Memorial Drive and Second Street N.E., for reports of a man suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, was found near the south curb of Memorial Drive adjacent to the Bow River Pathway, by citizens walking in the area who subsequently reported the incident to police.

As a result, the victim was transported to hospital by EMS with life-threatening injuries, however, his condition has since been upgraded to stable.

“We are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or may have witnessed the events leadings up to the stabbing, to come forward,” says Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm of the Calgary Police Service General Investigations Unit. “The area often sees plenty of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Anyone who was walking, running, riding a bicycle, or driving in a vehicle passing by could have information to further our investigation.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
