Police seek public assistance in sex assault investigation

We are investigating a sexual assault that occurred in the southwest community of Coach Hill earlier this morning.

At approximately 5 a.m., today, Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, a woman was jogging southbound near Coach Hill Road S.W. approaching Bow Trail S.W. The woman jogged past an unknown man who was walking northbound.

The man yelled at the woman, and allegedly charged at her and sexually touched her without consent. The woman screamed and was able to run away and call police.

The man fled prior to police arrival and was last seen running southbound towards Bow Trail S.W.

The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 5’5’’, 20 to 30 years old with a medium build and day’s growth beard. He was wearing a dark-coloured toque, a dark t-shirt with a red and black plaid shirt tied around his waist, and baggy blue jeans.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the attack or has information about the identity or location of the man.

No one deserves to be victimized and there are some things joggers can do to improve their safety while exercising outdoors. We recommend jogging with others and staying in well-lit areas. Jogging without earbuds can also help you be aware of what is going on around you. If you are going to jog alone, be sure to tell someone where you are going and what time you expect to return, or consider using GPS tracking on your phone to share your location.

Citizens with information about the incident are asked to contact us at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers using any of the following methods:
