Police seek public assistance in locating arson suspect

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance in locating a suspect in relation to a series of house fires that occurred in the southeast area of the city.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, 2019, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police were called to the 200 block of Legacy Mount S.E. for reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, it was discovered the fire was originating from a home under construction, with no occupants inside.

Two additional house fires were reported shortly after in the same area, with occupants of one home safely evacuated, while the other home was unoccupied and also under construction.

The CPS Arson unit is currently investigating the cause of the fires. Investigators are looking to speak to the driver of a grey, 1999-2002, era Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Super Cab truck, who was seen in the vicinity of the house fires. Photos of the truck are available on the City of Calgary Newsroom.

As this is an active investigation, no further information will be released at this time.

Anyone with any information about this incident, or the driver of the truck, is asked to contact police through the non-emergency number at 403-266-1234 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers using either of the following methods:
