Police seek public assistance in child death investigation

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is seeking public assistance in relation to a sudden death of a child that occurred at a day home earlier this year.

On Friday, June 28, 2019, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police were called to a day home in the southeast community of Deer Ridge, located at 271 Deerview Drive S.E., for reports of an unresponsive child. The owner of the day home no longer resides at this address.

Upon police arrival, it was discovered the child was not breathing and was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The Calgary Police Service is seeking to speak to anyone who had a child in the care of this day home prior to June 28, 2019.

The day home was unlicensed and is no longer in operation.
