Police seek public assistance in attempted child luring

We are asking the public for help in an ongoing investigation.

On Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, sometime between 6 and 7 p.m., a man attempted to abduct an 11-year-old boy who was bicycling on a path east of Coventry Hills School, between Covewood Park and Coverpark Road N.E..

The man attempted to force the child to go with him, but the boy managed to get away and returned home. His parents then contacted police.

The suspect is described as white, in his early 20s, and around 5’6” tall. He was wearing black sweatpants, a grey hoodie and white shoes.

We are asking anyone who may have seen this man or may have CCTV or dashcam footage to contact us.

This appears to be an isolated incident and there have been no other reports.  While we continue to investigate the details surrounding this incident, given the seriousness of the allegation and out of an abundance of caution, this information is being shared with the public.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
