Police seek public assistance in attempted carjackings

We are asking for the public's assistance in locating a man believed to be responsible for two attempted carjackings last week.

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a woman was in the driver's seat of her vehicle, parked in the 200 block of Ninth Ave. S.E., when a man opened the door and threatened to kill her. The woman fled the vehicle with her keys. The man entered the vehicle and after unsuccessfully attempting to drive it, got out and began approaching other vehicles in oncoming traffic.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., the same man approached another parked vehicle in the 700 block of  Sixth Ave. S.W., opened the driver's door and forcibly removed the female driver before entering. The man was once again unable to operate the vehicle since the driver still held the keys. He stole the driver's purse, then fled.

The suspect is a described as 30 to 40 years old, with light skin, short brown hair and a beard. At the time of the incidents, he was wearing a black ball cap with a light-coloured brim, black track pants with white accents, black sneakers and a black “Reebok” hoodie with a white triangle logo on the front.
