Police seek information in Mahogany pedestrian hit-and-run
We are asking for the public's assistance to identify a vehicle and driver connected to a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in the community of Mahogany earlier this week.
At approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, police were called to the intersection of Mahogany Street S.E. and 52 Street S.E. for reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Investigators believe that the pedestrian, a 71-year-old woman, was walking eastbound in a marked crosswalk along 52 Street S.E. in a light-controlled intersection. At the same time, a black 2007 - 2017 Jeep Patriot, driven by an unknown man, made a right-hand turn from westbound Mahogany Street S.E. onto northbound 52 Street S.E. and struck the senior.
The driver did not remain at the scene. The woman was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, the driver of the vehicle, or anyone who has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision to come forward to help advance the investigation.
October is Pedestrian Safety Month in the Alberta Traffic Safety Calendar, and we encourage both motorists and pedestrians to watch out for one another to ensure everyone’s safety. This year alone, 11 pedestrians have died on Calgary streets and more than 300 pedestrian collisions have occurred.
