Police seek information in hit-and-run involving first responder

After following all investigative leads, we are now turning to the public to help gather information in relation to a hit-and-run involving an on-duty member of the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) that occurred last month.

On Friday, May 23, 2025, at approximately 11:50 a.m., an unknown man, believed to be driving a stolen 2017 blue Ford Fusion, was travelling westbound on Second Avenue N.E., at a high rate of speed.

The Ford is believed to have struck an on-duty CFD member who was standing in front of a building located in the 400 block of Second Avenue N.E., while he was conducting a building inspection. The vehicle also struck a 2008 black Porsche Cayenne that was parked along the street, before coming to a stop.

The driver subsequently fled the scene on foot in a southbound direction, and is described as a man who was wearing a black hoodie and black pants at the time of the incident.

Police retrieved the vehicle as evidence, and through the investigation, believe it was previously stolen from the southwest community of Silverado.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the stolen Ford is asked to contact police.

The victim was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation and police encourage anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
