Police seek information after serious assault

We are asking the public for information after an assault left a man in serious life-altering condition.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, police responded to reports of an unconscious man suffering from what appeared to be a head wound in the 6400 block of Bowness Road N.W. It is believed the witnesses who called 911 left the scene prior to police arrival. The man was transported to hospital in stable condition. Upon arrival, the man’s condition worsened and he remains in serious, life-altering condition.

After speaking with witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage, investigators believe that at approximately 11:40 p.m., the man was walking eastbound on the south sidewalk of the 6400 block of Bowness Road N.W., when two men appear to chase the victim, hitting him and knocking him to the ground. The two then continued to assault the man with an unknown object, kicking and striking the man in the head until he was unconscious. The suspects then fled the scene, headed west on Bowness Road N.W. Moments later, a passerby driving a black GMC truck came upon the man and called 911.

Police believe additional witnesses may have key information that can help advance the investigation. We are looking to speak with the man in the GMC truck, and any additional witnesses who may have been on scene shortly after the assault.

A photo of the truck is available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

We are also asking that if anyone has CCTV or dashcam footage of the assault to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
