Police seek help to identify vehicle involved in hit-and-run

We are asking for the public’s help to identify a vehicle believed to be involved in a hit-and-run that took place in the northwest earlier this week.

On Monday, June 12, 2023, at approximately 12:05 p.m., a 61-year-old woman was struck at the intersection of Fourth Street and Northmount Drive N.W.

At the time, it is believed a vehicle described as a light-coloured Jeep Wrangler was travelling southbound on Fourth Street N.W. and proceeded to make a right turn onto westbound Northmount Drive N.W.

At the same time, the victim is believed to have been walking in a marked crosswalk when she was struck.

The driver of the Jeep, a man in his 30s, exited his vehicle, walked up to the woman, and advised witnesses on scene he would call 9-1-1. He instead ran back to the vehicle and drove away.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.

We are now asking for the public’s help to identify the vehicle believed to be involved.

The vehicle is described as a light-coloured, newer model, two-door Jeep Wrangler, that may have a yellow or coloured stripe, is slightly lifted with large-sized tires. At the time of the incident, it is believed the Jeep’s doors were removed.

A stock image of a Jeep Wrangler believed to be similar to the suspect’s vehicle accompanies this release.

The driver is described as having a fair complexion and was wearing shorts and a blue shirt at the time of the incident.

We continue to investigate and are asking witnesses or anyone who may have information about the incident or the Jeep, to contact the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
